ARSENAL
Most Important Signing: Gabriel Jesus (£45m)
Transferring from Manchester City, the Brazilian moving to his old assistant manager’s team seemed perfect, and he hasn’t let the Gunners down in pre-season, picking up seven goals in five matches including the 4-0 battering against Chelsea.
With the departure of Alexandre Lacazette (free Lyon transfer) and Arsenal failing to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, the Gunners will be hoping his pre-league form continues.
Honourable mention: Oleksandr Zinchenko (£32m)
The Ukrainian had a very tough time off the pitch this past year – all our thoughts being with him and the rest of Ukraine – alongside playing only 15 matches in 2021/22 season for Manchester City. A fresh start in the capital could be just what he needs to relight his career. Although only featuring in 15 games Zinchenko still managed to get four assists in the Premier League during Man City’s title winning season so with this this experience the 25-year-old will be very influential in Arsenal’s team.
ASTON VILLA
Most expensive signing: Diego Carlos (£26m)
The 29-year-old Brazilian was wanted by Newcastle in the summer yet Sevilla demanded too much money, but now he finally moves to the Premier League. Involved in the gold medal-winning squad at Tokyo 2020, he also kept 14 clean sheets in 34 games during his previous Europa League qualifying season. These stats along with his experience should be a great signing for Gerrard’s team to add some needed squad depth to the defence.
Most Important Signing: Phillippe Coutinho (£17m)
After an influential loan move from Barcelona in the 2021/22 season, Gerrard recognised how important Coutinho had become to his side. The Brazilian scored five goals and three assists in 19 matches, including scoring against the now champions on the final day. From being teammates on Merseyside to a permanent player-manager relationship in the Midlands the 30-year-old signed a 4 year contract with Villa and should make fans very excited for the future with the likes of Jacob Ramsey alongside him.
BOURNEMOUTH
Most Important Signing: Ryan Fredericks (FREE)
The 29-year-old only featured in seven PL games last season for West Ham with youngster Ben Johnson and Vladimír Coufal cementing their place. An already well-established PL right-back – having played for seven teams in the England Football Leagues, Fredericks will bring a lot of experience to the newly promoted team and hopefully help decrease previous numbers of goals conceded.
Bournemouth has effectively chosen players out of contract, allowing them to increase squad depth without the price tag, with the money saved available for future big transfers.
BRENTFORD
Most Expensive Signing: Keane Lewis-Potter (£20m)
The 21-year-old caught the attention of Thomas Frank after scoring 12 goals in 46 appearances in the Championship. Brentford previously tried to sign him last summer and in January’s transfer windows but was unsuccessful, yet remained persistent.
Lewis-potter has also represented England at youth level and scored one goal in four caps. Another advantage of the youngster is he can play any of the front three positions and even as a number 10.
Most Important Signing: Ben Mee (free)
The 32-year-old centre-back spent last season wearing the captain’s armband for Burnley, but as the club were sent down to the Championship it was time to depart. In 21 appearances Mee helped the club keep six clean sheets and scored three goals. I’m sure Brentford will be hoping he keeps commanding from the back in the upcoming season.
BRIGHTON
Simon Adingra (undisclosed)
Brighton has had a very quiet window with most action being departures – at the time of writing making only two signings with one sent on loan. The 20-year-old was signed from Nordsjaelland on a four year contract with reports indicting for a fee in region of £6m. During his time with the Danish club, Adingra scored 12 goals from 40 appearances – including a goal on his senior debut in April 2021.
Julio Enciso (£9.5m)
The only other player the seagulls have signed is 18-year old Enciso from Libertad Asuncion. The forward scored 11 goals in 14 appearances in his most recent season. Original plans were to send him out on loan but after a solid pre-season this is currently in question. I’m sure Brighton fans wouldn’t be too pleased with the lack of business especially as they lost one of their best ball winners in Bissouma.
CHELSEA
Most Important Signing: Raheem Sterling (£50.58m)
Chelsea too have been relatively quiet, but the signings they have made have been big names! Making a move to the blue side of the capital the 27-year-old has a lot to offer despite being out of favour by the current PL champions (despite managing 13 goals last season). Just over a year ago, Sterling played a massive part in England’s journey to the European Championship final, scoring three crucial goals in seven games, showing how influential he can be and I’m sure this is a big reason Tuchel snapped him up!
Honourable mention: Connor Gallagher
Returned to his parent club after an exceptional season on loan at Crystal Palace. I’m sure Chelsea fans can’t wait to see him in action!
CRYSTAL PALACE
Crystal Palace will be hoping to continue their great run with Patrick Viera and the French ex-Arsenal man will attract some talent!
Most Expensive Signing: Cheick Doucouré (£20.34m)
The 22-year-old was signed from Ligue 1 team Lens, likely brought in to work alongside Eze and Schlupp, dictating play in the midfield in a slightly deeper roll following the departure of Connor Gallagher and Cheikhou Kouyate.
Chris Richards
An under-the-radar player Palace managed to snatch up the 22-year-old, American defender, who played in the Bundesliga for several seasons with Bayern Munich being his parent club. He was recently loaned to Hoffenheim making 30 appearances over
the past two seasons. Richards has also made eight caps for the United States’ first team having come through their youth categories. His move will help improve Palace’s squad depth and reduce the average squad age which seems to be Vieira’s vision.
EVERTON
Most Important Signing: Dwight McNeil (£20m)
McNeil joined Burnley at age 14 but after a tough season ending in relegation and multiple teams after him, Frank Lampard managed to get his signature. Following the departure of Richardilson it was crucial to fill the position and the young Englishman is already up to PL quality standards having played a grand total of 134 games for Burnley.
James Tarkowski (free)
Following his teammate to the Merseyside, the 29-year-old centre-back made 198 appearances for Burnley scoring seven goals during his time and received two caps for England under current manager Gareth Southgate. Tarkowski helped his club to seven clean sheets but was unsuccessful in avoiding relegation. This move will help boost the experience of the team.
FULHAM
Most Important Signing: Andreas Pereira (£8.55m)
The 26-year-old spent 11 years at Manchester United before spending the past two seasons on loan after being replaced in the Red Devils team. Although born in Belgium, Pereira decided to represent Brazil internationally and has since received one cap. Spending the past year at Flamengo making 20 appearances, he picked up three goals and two assists.
Most Expensive Signing: Joao Palhinha (£18m)
From Sporting CP B, the Portuguese defensive midfielder has been out on multiple loan spells throughout the leagues in Portugal getting over 180 appearances, before finally making a big move over to England at the age of 27.
LEEDS
Most Important Signing: Tyler Adams (£20m)
The 23-year-old looks to be a straight replacement for Kalvin Phillips who recently joined Manchester City. Leeds manager Jesse Marsch gave Adams his senior debut at New York Red Bulls age 16, when he was head coach and obviously kept a close eye since. Adams helped his previous club into a Champions League semi-final but fell short losing to Paris Saint-Germain, but he has a lot to offer Leeds United in the upcoming seasons.
Most Expensive Signing: Brenden Aaronson (£24.7m)
Moving from Red Bull Salzburg, Aaronson picked up six goals and provided 10 assists in 41 appearances last season in the Austrian Bundesliga – the same season the team became champions of the league and won the Austrian cup for the second consecutive season. The versatile 21-year-old also represents USA and have been on Leeds’s radar since the January window.
